-
Do I need a 4x4 vehicle?YES you do. We keep the dirt road to Mountains to Sea in good condition, but it is steep, there fore you will need a 4x4 vehicle. Also it will make your stay in our area easier and more convenient overall. We like Vamos rental car near the SJO airport.

-
Where can I buy food? There is a grocery store about 10 minutes from us in our small town of Platanillo. There is also one in Dominical, 15-20 minutes away. There are small organic grocery stores in both towns as well. We have local farmers markets on Tuesdays and Fridays.
-
Where do I find restaurants?Dominical (about 15-20 minutes) has your closest restaurant options for all meals. If you wish to go a little further there are more in Uvita (about 40 minutes away). We also have a chefs kitchen on site if you are interested in hiring a private chef let us know and we can help you with that.
-
What is the best time of year to visit? There are two named season in Costa Rica, summer and winter, or green/rainy season and dry season. Summer generally runs from December-April with May-November being winter. May-July is kind of a transition time, usually with less tourists and cooler temperatures with out too much rain. Summer is "high season" in Costa Rica, the days are brighter, hotter and the waves are generally smaller in comparison to winter. So it all depends what you prefer!
-
What is the currency? Can I use the US dollar?Costa Rican currency is called colones, check the current EXCHANGE RATE here. You can exchange money in the airport, withdraw from an ATM, or go in a bank. However, most places accept US dollar, just be aware you might not get the current exchange rate at some places. You can also use all major credit cards where cards are accepted, which is most places but maybe a few restaurants and any kind of market, vendors, taxis, exc. Some credit cards have foreign transaction fees, check with your credit card provider for more information.

This can be paid via Venmo, Paypal or Zelle. A credit card is also required for a damage deposit but will NOT be charged unless there is damage to the property. The rest of the amount is due upon check-in and can be paid in the same way or with cash. For Retreats: $750 non-refundable deposit is a due upon booking the space. $3,000 is due 120 days prior to retreat start date. The remaining balance is due 60 days prior to start date.

What airport should I fly into?San Jose International Airport (SJO) is the closest large airport, it is a 3.5 hour drive. But the drive from SJO is not difficult, you can use google maps and check out the scenery of Costa Rica on the way.

How do I use my cell phone in Costa Rica to make calls?Check with your provider before you arrive. Most companies charge a “International day pass” fee that is around $10 per day.
